Overcoming Adversity

In this episode Diane Fiellin shares that her father left when she was one year old. In addition, her mother was addicted to drugs. Consequently, Diane learned how to be resourceful. In other words, Diane ultimately raised herself and her three siblings. Furthermore, Diane shares how she left the economic depression and violence of Baltimore, MD behind to live a productive life. Finally, Diane shares some challenging moments in her work as a Department of Defense contractor. As a contractor, she provided medical care around the world. For example, while assigned to an air base in Bahrain, Diane was the only civilian medic to provide basic life support services for the U.S. Military.
